Gerald Lopez |Speaking in Black and White
20th May - 28th June 2025
An exhibition of contemporary photography by Gerald Lopez - a Northcote resident for over 25 years - at our Ernie Mays Street Gallery, accompanied by an outdoor exhibition of photographs in Northcote Town Centre.
"Speaking in Black and White explores the resilience of Northcote - a community shaped by change yet bound by connection. Captured in black-and-white, this documentary series reveals everyday moments—faces, streets, and shared spaces—where history and future intersect. Through shifting landscapes and enduring relationships, the images reflect the essence of tautinei—sustaining identity, culture, and belonging. In a world of constant transformation, these photographs invite us to witness what remains, what evolves, and what it means to hold onto the threads of community."
