Beyond Femininity, a group exhibition of contemporary female artists from Aotearoa New Zealand took place at Northart Gallery in July. Featuring artists that represent the female experience and perspective in their creative practices, this exhibition showcased art that subverts traditional idealistic representations of the female body, and navigates the phenomenological practicalities of being female. Themes of embodiment, sexuality, intimacy and identity feature prominently.

This exhibition was curated by Northart’s Gallery Assistant team: Mirabelle Field, Tamar Torrance, and Jessica Webb
