Job Opportunity: Lead Gallery Assistant

NORTHART is the North Shore’s public art gallery, based in the heart of Northcote Town Centre. We are a not-for-profit with a longstanding history and commitment to contemporary New Zealand art. Our vision is to provide quality art experiences that are contemporary, innovative and relevant and encourage an awareness of and involvement in the visual arts.

 

NORTHART is looking for a new team member for the role of Lead Gallery Assistant. This role is a varied and exciting opportunity, best suited to a person with a background in art history, visual arts or galleries. 

 

A key support role, it encompasses running the day-to-day operations of Northart including front of house, exhibition installation, administration including social media, co-ordination of volunteers, co-ordination of our member programme, artist and client liason and the gallery website. This position is five days per week from Tuesday - Saturday. It is sole charge at times, offering 30-35 hours per week. 

 

We are a small team at NORTHART - the Lead Gallery Assistant role is an interesting mix of pratical, hands on work and administrative, operational tasks. Our ideal candidate will have a high level of attention to detail, be well organised, be able to work in a team and autonoumously, with a willingness to learn and a can-do attitude.
